I was hoping so much from the movie. After his last disaster, I thought he must have learnt from his mistakes. But I guess I was wrong. This is not the kind of movie which I expected.

Vivaah has no story!! You can't make a movie without a plot. And because they don’t have a story at all it runs at extremely slow pace. Movie is totally unrealistic in today's scenario. Their language and their emotions are totally unrealistic. Movie is about a small town girl who is engaged to a rich business tycoon's son settled in Delhi. It’s about their journey from engagement to marriage. Now in the end, when director didn't find a proper ending to the movie, he brings 1960's era twist wherein the heroine get burnt while saving her kid sister. And when the whole family thought that the boy and his family won't accept the bride, hero comes and marries her in the Burn Unit of Hospital.

The plot is too simple to be stretch for 2 .5 hour. Now in which part of India be it a small town, people speak such a shudh hindi (ya, the amrita Rao keeps on saying JAL, Vatavaran and Swasthya... in the movie).

Despite bad (or no) plot, music is good. If you like old melodies this movie has something to offer. Other than that acting by Amrita Rao and Shahid Kapoor is good enough. I really liked the chemistry between the two. But come on who behaves like them these days. With dialogues written in shudh hindi, you will feel like laughing in the romantic scenes. But they lack passion in their relationship.

Cinematography is also good, especially the beautiful background of Somsarovar.

Although movie is not bad and boring but you will feel like pulling your hair, after listening to dialogues and pace.

I was expecting much more from movie.

VMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08056872207258716885noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36826415.post-1162887967775364502006-11-07T00:25:00.000-08:002006-11-12T21:24:58.095-08:00

Vivaah -- A preview

Suraj Barjatya is back with his new movie "Vivaah -- A journey from engagement to Wedding" . He is back after his last disaster "Mein Prem ki Diwani Hoon (2003)".
Barjatya is kind of director who put in lot of effort and hardwork in his film. Thats why he has only 6 releases in his 17 years spent in industry!

Movie is about the sanctity of marriage. Its a journey of a young couple from their engagement to their marriage. The couple is doing their fourth film together after Waah! Life Ho..., Shikhar, Ishq Vishq. And sure their chemistry works!

Music is composed by Ravindra Jain, who is back with Rajshri Production after so many years. But the music fails to impress the critics as well as the masses.

Movie is slated to release on 10th November. Looking forward to watch the it.

VMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08056872207258716885noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36826415.post-1162558531675594962006-11-03T04:48:00.000-08:002006-11-12T21:24:58.012-08:00
GURU --- based on Dhirubhai Ambani?

Mani Ratnam is back in action. He has beautiful style of telling simple yet thought provoking tales. DOR is next in the series.

Yesterday I watched DOR, and was really impressed by its simplicity yet delivering a strong message. Other than that movie was able to entertain us throughout with a feel good factor. Main theme of the movie is “believe” same as in Kukunoor’s earlier flick Iqbal.

DOR is a story of two protagonist, Zeenat (Gul) and Meera (Ayesha), from different geographical background, different religion, but has common link or 'dor'. Their husbands, Aamir and Shankar, work in Saudi and are room-mates. Shankar died in Saudi and Aamir is arrested for his murder. He is given death sentence and only way to save him, is if Shankar's widow, Meera pardons him. Zeenat, travels from Himachal to Rajasthan in search of Meera, with just a photograph of Shankar, with the help of ’beharupiya’ (Shreyas), to save her husband.

The film has touched very sensitive issues. The status of women in rural parts of the country. It shows the bad treatment given by the in-laws after the death of their husband.

But it also talks about the liberation of women; the confidence to do things on your own and I guess Gul has done it pretty well.

Gul Panag did a decent job and looked really good in the movie. Ayesha Takia is looking amazingly fresh in the movie. Yet she looked much matured, which totally stands out. But one person who actually steals the show is Shreyas Talpade, with his lighter scenes as ‘beharupiya’ in the erstwhile serious movie. The best part was when all the three main characters do ‘Kajrare’ in the beautiful Thar.

Cinematography is awe-inspiring. Locales of Rajasthan Desert and Himalyan mountains have been captured beautifully.

DOR is a beautiful and simple movie which leaves a lasting impact on viewer.

Basically, Nagesh Kukunoor simply rocks…

VMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08056872207258716885noreply@blogger.com2
